Spring Valley is a village located in the town of Ramapo in Rockland County, New York and is about 25 miles away from New York City.

Spring Valley has been officially incorporated since 1902 and has been providing great municipal services to the community. The village has a mayor and its own departments of assessor, building, clerk, fire, justice court, legal, parks & recreation, police, public works, treasury, and waste management. Spring Valley has a US post office and the zip code of the village is 10977.

Spring Valley is suburban in nature and is one of the largest communities in Rockland County. Spring Valley real estate consists of very diverse households including multiple apartment complexes, townhouses, multi-family homes and single family homes of different styles. Residential areas of Spring Valley vary in surroundings ranging from homes and apartments located along busy streets to homes located in quiet tree-lined streets. Spring Valley is known to have the most diverse real estate in Rockland County and has the most apartment buildings in the county.

Spring Valley is located within a well developed transportation system of local and major roads and a railroad line. The major roads passing through Spring Valley are New York State Route 45 and New York State Route 59, both of which host many local businesses and organizations. Spring Valley has excellent access to Interstate 287 via exit 14. Interstate 287 runs to upstate New York via I-87, to New Jersey via Garden State Parkway (exit 14A), to Westchester County via Tappan Zee Bridge. Additionally, I-287 connects to Palisades Interstate Parkway (exits 9 & 13) which provides a convenient route to New York City via George Washington Bridge.

Spring Valley train station is the terminus for New Jersey Transit and Metro North Pascack Valley Line, which runs to midtown Manhattan’s New York Penn Station by a transfer at Secaucus (NJ.) Public transportation in Spring Valley is provided by the buses of Transport of Rockland (TOR) and Spring Valley Jitney. There are also services by coach buses, which provide transportation to outside of Rockland.

Spring Valley is served by the excellent East Ramapo Central School District and is home to Colton Elementary School, Hempstead Elementary School, and Ramapo Freshman Center. Additionally the village is home to both of the district’s high schools of Spring Valley High School and Ramapo High School, each having more than 1,000 students. Spring Valley is also home to the central administration office of the school district and the Senator Eugene Levy/Dr. Jack R. Anderson Education Center. Additional educational and cultural facilities in Spring Valley include Finkelstein Memorial Library and Holocaust Museum & Study Center. A small portion of Spring Valley students fall into the Clarkstown Central School District.

There are plenty of recreational facilities and programs in Spring Valley. Herb Reisman Sports Complex includes, Little League field, soccer field, sand volleyball courts, basketball and tennis courts, paved walking path, picnic pavilion, comfort station, with lights and plenty of parking space. Located along Route 45, Herb Reisman Sports Complex is adjoined by Eugene Levy Memorial Park, which includes a pond, walking trails, large playgrounds, tennis wall/handball court and restrooms. Smaller neighborhoods parks include Capitol Park and Tigers Den Park.

Spring Valley Memorial Park is located in a residential neighborhood and includes tennis courts, basketball courts, athletic field, walking trails, flowing stream. Nearby are two baseball fields that host East Ramapo Little League games.

Spring Valley High School and Ramapo High School each include multiple athletic fields, a main stadium with running track and seating, tennis courts, indoor gymnasium. Ramapo Freshmen Center also includes multiple fields and gymnasium. All three schools in Spring Valley offer excellent recreational opportunities and programs to the community.

Spring Valley is home to town of Ramapo’s cultural arts center, which includes a 465 capacity theater that hosts many local events such as concerts and movie festivals.

Spring Valley is home to multiple historic sites including several listed on the National Register of Historic Places: North Main Street School, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and a post office.

Spring Valley has one of the largest business presence in Rockland County ranging from diverse retailers to restaurants and food shops and attorney’s offices. A drive down route 59 and route 45 will keep peoples’ heads turning every second with the vast amount of businesses that meet every possible need and desire. The largest shopping center in the village is the Spring Valley Market Place, which includes large retailers T.J Maxx and Target. Rockland County’s only Costco is located near the Spring Valley Market Place. Spring Valley is home to many restaurants and eateries ranging from fast food chains McDonald’s and KFC to authentic places serving Pizza, Mexican, Chinese, southeast Asian, and American food. The restaurants and food shops of Spring Valley offer such a large variety of diverse food guaranteed to satisfy anyone’s taste.

Spring Valley is a great place to visit and there are many lodging options available in nearby hotels, most of which are conveniently located along Route 59.
